Research shows that hand-hygiene dispensers have an impact on compliance rates


When encouraging hand hygiene in healthcare facilities, what matters most isn’t putting up more dispensers, but making sure they are correctly placed, according to an article on the Infection Control Today website.

Studies show that optimizing dispenser placement can increase usage by more than 50 percent.

A work-flow study is needed to optimize dispenser placement, but a guide is available based on SCA-sponsored and independent research. 

For instance, in a hospital entrance, positioning the dispenser in a clearly visible location near the entrance is important.
