Joel Allison, CEO of Baylor Scott & White Health, spoke at a recent healthcare symposium, sharing ideas for how providers can deliver more value in the healthcare reform environment, according to an article on the Medical Construction & Design website.

Allison's strategies include:

• Developing  more consumer-focused strategies

• Preserving market share through affordability

• Increasing volumes with on-demand access

• Appealing to discerning consumers with tailored service

• Determining how to successfully deliver value

The article quotes Warren Skea of the consulting firm PwC as saying that there are a number of factors are placing tremendous pressure on hospitals’ and health systems’ capital. He said to succeed in this environment, health systems should analyze not only traditional financial criteria but also market positioning and whether to be aggressive in implementing new strategies.
