Survey: Healthcare Facilities Not Keeping Up With Hackers

96 percent of IT professionals say data attackers are outpacing healthcare facilities in effectiveness

According to new research, 96 percent of IT professionals say data attackers are outpacing healthcare facilities in effectiveness, according to an article on the Security website.

For instance, 21 percent of hospitals surveyed report having a dedicated security executive, and only six percent identified that individual as a Chief Information Security Officer.

Black Book Market Research LLC surveyed more than 2,876 security professionals from 733 healthcare providers to identify gaps, vulnerabilities and deficiencies.

The pandemic pushed hospital staff that were able to work remotely — departments like vendor support and administration — into the home office. Healthcare cybersecurity experts usually urge keeping as much activity inside the firewall of the facility as possible.
