The Health Care Facilities Sustainable Operations Survey says the No. 1 challenge in implementing sustainability initiatives is competing investments and spending priorities, according to an article on the Health Facility Management website.
This No. 1 barrier is the same as it was in 2013.
In 2013, 62 percent named this as the top challenge to sustainability projects. An early analysis of this year’s survey puts that number at 68 percent, the article said.
Despite the promises of long-term benefits whether financial or otherwise, the up-front costs needed for sustainability projects have stopped progress
Other barriers noted in the 2015 poll include employee time limitations and not enough staffing.
