Texas healthcare facility recognized for energy saving
Baylor Scott & White Health-Carrollton won a statewide 'Energy Roundup' competition
Baylor Scott & White Health-Carrollton was awarded first place in a Texas "Energy Roundup" competition, according to an article on the D CEO Healthcare website.
The hospital won by shedding 13 percent of its energy consumption in 2016.
The annual competition includes hospitals and healthcare facilities and challenges them to save energy in order to protect the climate and environment.
Baylor Scott & White Health-Carrollton upgraded heating and cooling systems in 80 patient rooms, lowering nighttime temperatures in unoccupied areas, reducing the amount of air supplied to an operating room when not in use and installing variable-frequency drives on air handlers in order to vary fan and pump motor speeds to match variable load applications, the article said.
