Texas healthcare system opens more 'patient-friendly' facility

CHI St. Joseph Health hospital's emergency and trauma center features a more comfortable space and improved amenities

The CHI St. Joseph Health hospital in College Station, Texas, recently opened a new emergency and trauma center featuring a more comfortable space and improved amenities, according to an article on The Eagle website.

The new facility is nearly twice the size of the old trauma and emergency center.

The design team built a mock trauma center from life-size cardboard panels. A group of more than 150 hospital staff — including nurses, physicians and pharmacists to janitors — used the cardboard panels to put together ideal rooms for what they were trying to accomplish, pointing out ideal places for outlets, sinks and computer screens.

Each room is also equipped with a communications monitor that displays who the patient's doctors and nurses are, as well as what sort of treatments or care they are ordering or prescribing for the patient.
