Texas medical center builds on LEED Platinum certification
Dell Children's Medical Center new tower project pursues more challenging task of pursuing LEED for Healthcare, according to an article on the Healthcare Design website
After the Dell Children’s Medical Center first earned a LEED Platinum certification in 2007, it pursued a more challenging LEED for Healthcare with its new 86,000-square-foot tower, according to an article on the Healthcare Design website. The team started by identifying the LEED points it wanted to go after, ideas for the building systems and the financials as related to payback and value to the owner that would guide each decision. The decision target was anything that had a 12 percent rate of return or a six-year payback on the system.
Case study: LED upgrade and advanced controls across Bryan Health campuses cut lighting energy use by 57 percent while enhancing patient care and staff productivity.
The approximately 13,700-square-foot emergency room features 12 patient rooms, respiratory therapy services, diagnostic imaging including CT scans, X-ray and ultrasound.
