The University of Miami Business School to Host Annual Health Care Industry Conference

The University of Miami Business School on March 29 will hold its eighth annual health care industry conference, “The Business of Health Care: Technology & People: U.S. & Beyond.”

U.S. and international government and industry leaders, including heads of the major U.S. medical and insurance organizations, will discuss health care delivery and policy challenges, global market trends and emerging technologies. The one-day conference at the University of Miami’s Watsco Center is presented by Florida Blue; Boston Scientific and VITAS Healthcare are serving as chairman sponsors.

“This is the only conference of its kind to bring together on the same panel the heads of the leading U.S. provider and payer organizations to address pressing health and health care delivery issues,” said Steve Ullmann, director of Miami Business School’s Center for Health Management and Policy, the event organizer.

“Ours is also the only U.S. health care conference dedicated to exploring health care developments across the Western Hemisphere, a topic of great interest to many of our conference participants,” Ullmann added.

  • Heads of the American Medical Association, American Hospital Association, American Nurses Association and America’s Health Insurance Plans, among other leading industry groups, will serve as keynote panelists.
  • A session moderated by Dr. Julio Frenk, president of the University of Miami, will feature the ministers of health from Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru to discuss health care in Latin America’s changing political and business environment.
  • Additional speakers include Pat Geraghty, president and CEO, Guide Well Mutual and Florida Blue, Edward Abraham, CEO, UHealth, University of Miami, and Rubin Pillay, a medical futurist, physician, entrepreneur and scholar.
