Toledo hospital uses robot to help keep patients safe

Germ-zapping robot destroys bugs in hard-to-clean places


Toledo's St. Luke’s Hospital recently installed a germ-zapping robot that destroys hard-to-kill bugs in hard-to-clean places, according to an article on the Patch website.
 
The robot uses pulsed ultraviolet (UV) light to destroy bacteria, viruses, fungi and bacterial spores. 
 
The portable disinfection system is effective against Clostridium difficile (C.diff), norovirus, influenza, Ebola and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
 
The portable system disinfects a typical patient or procedure room in five-minute cycles.
