Transforming healthcare lighting

Proper outdoor lighting is a critical element in shaping visitors' perceptions of a healthcare facility

Proper outdoor lighting is a critical element in shaping visitors’ perceptions of a healthcare facility, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

LED lighting has several benefits with immediate results, along with long-term gains, the article said. There is the increased quality of the light output and improved visibility for campus safety and security. Additionally, there will be energy and maintenance savings.

LED delivers white light with a high color rendering index (CRI) and color consistency. LED technology advancements deliver high efficiency with warm color characteristics, removing the common orange color generally found in traditional high-pressure sodium (HPS) fixtures.

LED lighting enables effective wayfinding for ambulances, employees and visitors while promoting driver and pedestrian safety and security.
