UF/Sid Martin Biotechnology Institute adds new green clean startup company to its incubator portfolio


Sid Martin Biotechnology Institute, a leading biosciences incubator at the University of Florida, announced a new technology startup, RelīOx™ Corporation, has been admitted into its bio-business program located in Alachua. The Institute offers startups collaborative, open workspace combined with financial, technical and human resources to nuture startups’ growth and success.

RelīOx™ - Green Clean Technology

RelīOx Corporation is a newly-funded startup company created from University of Florida green clean technology invented by Dr. David Richardson, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (CLAS), and commercialized by Ian and Cristina Knapp and the RelīOx team.  The company takes a novel, green chemistry approach to the manufacture of Chlorine Dioxide which can destroy all known pathogenic agents and eliminate most noxious or hazardous odors with no harmful side effects. The new technologies are comprised of a family of methods unique for producing, delivering and transporting Chlorine Dioxide. 

Target Markets

RelīOx represents a new approach for chemical destruction in the $7 billion Odor Control market and for agents in the $17 billion Janitorial, Healthcare, R&D, Food/Beverage and Process Water target markets.

The new startup was admitted to the Institute’s bio-business program through a screening process with its Biotech Advisory Committee.
