Unsanitary conditions found in N.J. pediatrician's exam room

Problems with storage and disposal of vaccines and biohazardous materials found

Unsanitary conditions found in a New Jersey pediatrician's exam room led to a loss of license, according to an article on the Becker's Infection Control & Clinical Quality website.

The pediatrician agreed to a temporary license suspension after investigations found problems with storage and disposal of vaccines and biohazardous materials as well as general lack of hygiene and cleanliness, the article said.

A Department of Health and Division of Consumer Affairs Enforcement Bureau inspection found "extreme uncleanliness."

It found improperly labeled vials of blood in drawers and closets that had never been sent for inspection, as well as used open syringes in the exam room and storage rooms.
