The Veterans Administration is adding medical staff after rust and blood were found on surgical instruments at healthcare facility, according to an article on the Military.com website.
Problems have been found at a number of VA healthcare facilities.
Dr. Teresa Boyd, the VA's assistant under secretary for Health for Clinical Operations, said the issue was being addressed at all levels of the VA. She said that a shortage of Sterile Procedure Services staff was a contributing factor.
The VA reported recently that there were about 40,000 job vacancies at the Veterans Health Administration
