VidaShield, CME Join Forces to Combat HAI in Healthcare Facilities

In a partnership that will target hospital acquired infections (HAI), CME has been named the preferred North American distributor for VidaShield, the healthcare equipment and logistics company is proud to announce.

Such infections take a heavy toll on healthcare institutions. On any given day, one in 25 patients have at least one HAI, and about 75,000 people with an HAI die during their hospitalization annually.

“HAIs are a significant concern for our customers,” said KC Meleski, national sales manager for CME. “VidaShield offers an effective, innovative solution. We especially like the fact that it is easy to install and can be placed where it is needed most, like directly over a patient’s bed.”

VidaShield is a UV-C, antimicrobial, environmental air purification system. It combines an ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) chamber and air-circulating fans with an overhead ceiling light. The patented system uses UV-C light and filtration to draw in and treat environmental air. It reduces bacterial and fungal populations in treated air and reduces settling bacteria and fungi in treated air 24 hours a day. The system fits into standard 2-by-4 foot drop ceilings, and there are several options available for hard ceilings.

“We are proud to have a partnership with CME, the nation’s largest healthcare equipment company,” said Frank Matera, executive vice president, healthcare group for VidaShield. “By reducing bacteria, fungi and viruses from the air and surfaces, we are assisting healthcare providers deliver a safer environment for their patients and staff.”
