The completion of the Inova Women’s Hospital and Inova Children’s Hospital on Inova Health System’s Fairfax, Va., campus relied on the use of Lean principles, according to an article on the Medical Construction & Design website.
Following the principles of Lean construction, the entire project team boiled the project down to a single sheet of paper. The team then knew what was occurring on every facet of the project at any given moment.
The Inova Women’s Hospital’s acute care floors are grouped into complementary specialties to improve efficiency and foster collaboration.
The Inova Children’s Hospital features a 108-bassinet level IV neonatal intensive care unit and Northern Virginia’s only pediatric intensive care unit.
