Visible Light Communication from Acuity Brands honored with Lux Innovation of the Year Award

ATLANTA - Lux Magazine designated Visible Light Communication technology from Acuity Brands, Inc. (NYSE:AYI) as one of the most exciting lighting technologies of 2014. The magazine has distinguished the company with a Lux Award in the Controls Innovation of the Year category, for the Visible Light Communication technology enabled in its eldoLED® LED drivers.

"Acuity Brands is at the forefront of lighting innovation, including the development of LED solutions that deliver optimal experiences through efficient and controllable luminaires for any environment," said Steve Lydecker, Acuity Brands Lighting Senior Vice President, Applied Integrated Solutions. "This award from Lux Magazine affirms our achievements and advancement of our intelligent driver platform to deliver luminaire intelligence - such as communication through visible light technology - in addition to high-quality, controllable lighting."

Acuity Brands smart LED solutions utilizing eldoLED LED drivers include intelligence to leverage technology such as visible light communication in addition to the intelligence to optimize energy savings and quality of light. Data transmitted using visible light from the luminaire introduces new possibilities for the customers now rapidly deploying LED systems using connectivity through wired and wireless networks.

"The technology in a high-volume commercially available driver can be applied to guide shoppers through the retail buying experience, and in other indoor uses that can take advantage of the high density, powered and now intelligent infrastructure of lighting," said Lydecker.
