Texas Health Resources plans to build a new hospital and medical campus in north McKinney. 

Expected to open in 2028, the hospital will feature 60 beds initially with plans to double in capacity to accommodate for future community growth. It will be built, along with a medical office building, on 51 acres of land in northeast McKinney and serve residents of north McKinney, Anna, Melissa, Princeton and surrounding areas. 

The announcement comes as construction is already underway on a new Texas Health hospital in Forney, along with several other major expansion projects across the system. 

The new hospital in McKinney will feature a Women’s Services Center, including labor and delivery and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), as well as an Emergency Department, surgical suites, cardiology services and advanced imaging. 

Texas Health, a faith-based nonprofit health system that cares for more patients in North Texas than any other provider, currently has 29 hospital locations across the Metroplex and more than 420 points of access. 

Investing in a new hospital in north Collin County is essential to meeting the demands of explosive population growth in this region. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the area includes some of the nation's fastest-growing cities: Princeton, Anna, Melissa and Celina. 

While the new medical campus will be the health system’s first in north Collin County, Texas Health has long been a part of the Collin County community with Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano and Texas Health Hospital Frisco, which have also recently undergone or are currently undergoing enhancements. 

Texas Health Frisco is building out the hospital’s seventh floor, which will add 30 new patient rooms by fall 2026. Texas Health Plano recently opened a six-story garage and has begun construction of a new eight-story tower that will add 168 additional beds, an upgraded Emergency Department and enhanced specialty care in neuroscience, heart and vascular and digestive health. And in the last five years, Texas Health Allen completed the largest renovation and construction in the hospital’s history, increasing the hospital’s beds and space for a variety of service lines, including a new inpatient surgical unit and dedicated rehabilitation gym.
