The Nutrition and Food Services staff at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.,  is hoping to change what people think of as hospital food, according to an article on the Herald Mail Media website.

The VA Medical Center, or VAMC, serves more than 1,500 inpatient veteran meals daily. More than 80% of the menu items are made from scratch.

There also are three certified, degreed chefs and eight military-trained cooks. Roughly three-fourths of the 93 staff members are veterans, and most are there because they really love food.
