Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntongton, W.Va., has put elective surgeries on hold because of residual particulate ion equipment and surgical trays, according to an article on the Fox 11 website.
The granular particulate, which is described as a flaky substance, was found Jan. 30 on some sterile surgical trays.
The hospital suspended surgeries to address the problem.
The hospital has since installed a new water filtration system to reduce sediment and a higher micron filter.
