Women impersonating staff rob N.C. nursing home residents

Two women who wore hospital scrubs allegedly stole jewelry from residents at two Cary retirement communities earlier this month

Two women who wore hospital scrubs allegedly stole jewelry from residents at two Cary, N.C., retirement communities in July, according to an article on the News Observer website.

Police say the women were wearing hospital scrubs but didn’t have identification when they entered the buildings. On surveillance video, they are seen walking through hallways to check unlocked doors.

Additional security measures have been implemented since the incidents, including educating staff and residents about keeping their doors locked and monitoring guests. Building access codes have been changed.

“The community will work hard to maintain the independent spirit of the community, and also ensure the safety and security of the people who live here,” a facility official said.
