After police pursued a homicide suspect to the vicinity of a San Francisco area urgent care and outpatient surgical center, facility leaders took employee concerns to law enforcement after the incident was resolved to see if improvements could be made, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.
The experience has launched a systemwide training initiative to educate staff on how to help police work more effectively.
After the incident many employees were upset because the police didn’t explain anything.
"What we learned through that close call was that we really have to get our employees to understand the mission of the police at the time of these events,” said Jerry Glotzer, Bay Area regional director of environmental health and safety/emergency management for Palo Alto Medical Foundation.
