Hamilton to Lead Healthcare Practice for WSP in Arlington, VA


Gary Hamilton is a new senior vice president and healthcare leader in the Arlington, Virginia buildings practice of WSP USA, formerly WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy.

In his new position, Mr. Hamilton is responsible for leading the healthcare team in the Arlington office and responsible for client relations in the Northeast. He has over 21 years of experience in design and project management. He is a well published author and a thought leader in the healthcare industry and was elevated to the senior status of the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) in 2015. Prior to joining WSP, he was the national engineering healthcare leader for SmithGroupJJR.

“We are very excited to welcome Mr. Hamilton to our firm,” said Larry Beam, senior vice president and managing director of the Arlington office. “His expertise in engineering for the healthcare market adds to our existing expertise in commercial, residential and cultural projects, among others.”

Mr. Hamilton received a master of energy engineering from South Bank University in London and a bachelor of civil engineering from the University of the West Indies in Trinidad. He is a 2015 recipient of Consulting-Specifying Engineer’s 40 under 40 award. He has just recently won two first place technology awards from the ASHRAE National Chapter and ASHRAE Region III for the Carilion Clinic Operating Room Renovation project.

His professional affiliations include founder of the National Capital Region Society of Healthcare Engineers (NCR-SHE) – the local American Society of Healthcare Engineers chapter in Washington DC; certified Evidence Based Design Professional with the Center for Health Design; ASHE representative on the International Code Council Ad Hoc Committee on Healthcare (AHC); and a member of American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). He is a registered professional engineer in Maryland and District of Columbia, as well as a certified commissioning authority (CxA) and is a LEED AP BD+C
