Rural healthcare organizations could be hurt by policy changes


Some healthcare experts are worried that the loss of net neutrality may impact telemedicine, and rural organizations could be hurt by the policy changes, according to an article on the Modern Healthcare website.

If net neutrality rules are repealed, rural and community health centers may struggle because they "likely will not have the resources to pay for a fast connection in a tiered system," according to the Center for Connected Health Policy.

Healthcare organizations may pass the connection costs on to their patients and smaller practices might not be able to defray the costs.

Healthcare organizations rely on the web for telemedicine as well as data storage.
