Alabama hospital designing improvements into replacement facility

Refreshed construction plans reflect changes in construction codes and hospital usage

Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, Ala., is designing improvements into replacement facility, according to an article on the Times Daily website.

The new facility's refreshed construction plans reflect changes in construction codes and hospital usage.

“A lot has changed in hospital construction since we started this project, so the floor plan we had, I guess almost five years ago now, is kind of stale,” Russell Pigg, hospital CEO, said. But Pigg said his main focus is on quality of care.

“A building is just a building. I know it is important to the community, but you could do what we do in a barn if you have the right doctors, the right technology and the right people. The building is just bricks and glass. It doesn’t change the quality of your hospital.”
