National Healthcare Design Awards winners show design can have an effect on outcomes


The National Healthcare Design Awards winners show that design can have a positive effect on outcomes, according to an article on the Fast Company website.

Seven new medical center designs demonstrate that tweaks in the physical environment can help keep patients safe and support faster healing.

"There's much higher awareness now of how healthy environments help patients heal," said Joan Suchomel, the leader of the AIA's Academy of Architecture for Health. 

For instance, the Kraemer Radiation Oncology Center in Anaheim, Calif., was designed to help make radiation treatment process as relaxing as it can be.
