Keres leads Beta test on new sustainability tool

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Local business Keres Consulting, Inc. (Keres) has a seat at the ‘innovation hub’ of energy technology, today announcing its role in an emerging energy auditing tool, Efficient Mobile Auditing Technology (EMAT). Keres, which is collaborating with software developer 270net Technologies, is spearheading the beta test phase of the project.

EMAT is a tablet-to-cloud energy auditing tool to help energy auditors move through the auditing process – preparation, data collection, data organization and analysis, and report development. Developed to meet the needs of an ASHRAE Level II Energy Audit, the EMAT software helps organize and automate the auditing process.

“In our early calculations, EMAT is cutting the cost of performing a standard ASHRAE Level II Energy Audit in half,” said Keres president, Tim Chavez. “These are game- changing results. I am thrilled that Keres is part of this initiative.”

Keres has conducted energy audits on millions of square feet of facilities, including energy conservation projects for the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The company is testing the EMAT software on a number of active energy audit projects before the technology is released for public use in the summer of 2014.

“Energy conservation is not a new concept, but it is a movement that is gaining momentum with federal mandates and municipal and local incentive programs,” said Chavez. “EMAT is entering the market at the right time and promises to lessen the financial burden of the assessment, allowing more resources to be directed to energy conservation measures.”

The energy management industry is a growing business sector, with a compound annual growth rate of 21.6 percent, according to Pike Research [1]. The industry is expected to grow to $5.6 billion by 2020.
