Legrand introduces new line of rubber and watertight products

SYRACUSE, N.Y.  – Legrand, a leading provider of electrical wiring devices and home systems, today announced the availability of its new line of Pass & Seymour® Rubber and Watertight plugs, connectors and receptacles.

The new Rubber and Watertight products are designed specifically for highly corrosive and wet industrial locations. These include food and beverage processing, petrochemical production, marinas and shipbuilding, pulp and paper mills, mining, water and waste water facilities, warehousing and refrigeration and temporary power sites.

“These environments offer exceptional business prospects for our Pass & Seymour® Rubber and Watertight products and we have expanded our line by over 80 items,” said Trevor Gardner, Pass & Seymour industrial product manager at Legrand. “This empowers our distributors to sell the right components for an entire industrial job.  We are also able to offer contractors a wider array of choices to solve complex challenges in demanding corrosive and wet environments.”

Both the Rubber Plugs and Connectors and the Watertight Plugs and Connectors are constructed from tough thermoplastic elastomer which enhances endurance against hard impacts, oils, chemicals, heat and extreme weather.

Rubber Plugs and Connectors contain industrial-strength brass blades and contacts that resist heat and provide excellent conductivity. Two screw cable clamps secure wires and provide superior strain relief.  Fast installation is enabled with both quick thread assembly screws and a keyed body and cover, which facilitates easy alignment. Molded-in non-slip grips also make the plug and connector devices easy to assemble and handle.

Watertight Plugs and Connectors are able to resist high-pressure hose downs of 1,500 psi. Nickel-plated blades and contacts offer long-lasting, superior corrosion resistance. A multipoint sealing system provides environmental protection of NEMA 4, 4X, 6, 6P and the devices are IP67 rated.  Color-coded sealing bushings accommodate a large range of cord diameters and large ribs on the device body provide a superior grip when mating.

Watertight Receptacles contain a spring-loaded flip cover that protects the device when it is not in use.  Corrosion resistance is enhanced by a stainless steel hinge spring and pin, and an impact-resistant Valox lid, cover plate, and receptacle body allow the receptacle to withstand impacts, chemicals and corrosion. Duplex versions contain a lockout/tagout capability.

Back boxes for receptacles are available with ½″ – 1″ dead-end and feed through openings.
