The Indiana University Health foodservice department has implemented a system that uses the RFID chip in an associate’s badge to tracks hand washing, according to an article on the Foodservice Equipment and Supplies website.
The chip tracks when they enter and exit the kitchen, the number of hand washing incidents, water flow — including the duration, and soap use.
If the system does not recognize someone washing their hands, it takes a picture and includes this data in its report.
Compliance went from 25 to 98 percent, the article said.
