After an employee recently traveled to an out-of-state hotspot, 30 people in a non-Covid unit of Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., were infected, according to an article on the Boston Herald website.
Thirteen patients and 23 employees tested positive.
Another factor, according to officials: hospital staff members gathered in break rooms, removing their masks without social distancing.
Baystate has been testing and contact tracing employees working on the unit, as well as those who spent more than 15 minutes there.
There are two clusters raising Massachusetts’ numbers. The other was a private house party of 30 to 50 people who work in the restaurant industry in Chatham. Thirteen of the attendees wound up testing positive for the coronavirus, according to an article on the NBC10 Boston website.
