307 hand-washing stations set for Jamaican healthcare facilities

Regional Health Authority is installing the stations as part of measures to improve infection control


Jamaica's South East Regional Health Authority will install 307 hand washing stations at health facilities as part of measures to improve infection control, according to an article on the Jamaica Gleaner website.

Eventually 411 foot-operated hand-washing stations will be installed in hospitals.

The new hand washing stations will replace the traditional hand operated ones.

The hand washing stations are being installed in the high-risk service delivery areas such as maternity and obstetrics, operating theater, neonatal unit, intensive care unit and accident and emergency department.
