About $97 billion in new hospitals, expansions and off-campus clinics and medical offices currently underway, according to an article on the Healthcare Finance News website.

Though most hospital projects are renovations, but 150 construction projects are new hospitals. 

The five largest projects are valued at more than a billion dollars.

Topping the list at $2 billion is the Tisch Hospital expansion in New York totaling 800,000 square feet. Next is a $1.5 billion new hospital tower at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
