API Healthcare expands into behavioral health and rehabilitation centers

HARTFORD, Wis.—API Healthcare, architect of the revolutionary Healthcare Workforce Information Exchange (HwIE), announced that in the second quarter of 2013 the company signed contracts that further expand their market reach to include behavioral health and rehabilitation centers. API Healthcare’s robust list of clients spans the entire healthcare continuum as shifting revenue and care delivery models create new challenges for every type of care organization. Seeking solutions that help make adjustments to an evolving marketplace while preparing for long term sustainability, non-acute care providers are looking towards deployment of comprehensive and innovative technology solutions to improve staff engagement and reduce labor costs across their entire span of organizations.

“The Affordable Care Act has created new challenges for all healthcare organizations regardless of where they are on the continuum,” said J.P. Fingado, president and chief executive officer, API Healthcare. “In the second quarter API Healthcare saw a sizeable lift in contracts from rehabilitation hospitals and skilled nursing facilities looking to reduce labor costs while keeping quality high. These organizations are turning to us because our solutions, most notably the Healthcare Workforce Information Exchange, are designed to address the unique workforce needs and demands that come with treating patients at all stages of care. Our comprehensive and innovative technologies enable the strategic development and deployment of the entire workforce, beyond nurses and clinical staff.”

AltaPointe Health Systems is one of many organizations to sign a contract with API Healthcare in the second quarter of 2013. AltaPointe is a comprehensive behavioral health system with large outpatient and hospital facilities staffed by more than 1000 clinical and non-clinical staff and contracted for API Healthcare’s full suite of workforce solutions.

“API Healthcare is an important partner in our efforts to ensure our community continues to receive high quality and affordable behavioral healthcare,” said Tuerk Schlesinger, CEO, AltaPointe Health Systems. “AltaPointe’s hospitals are accountable to acute-care standards and requirements. API Healthcare’s technology will enable us to ensure that we are fully compliant and that our clinical and non-clinical staff member licenses, skills and competencies are current and up-to-date. Using the Healthcare Workforce Information Exchange to share this vital employee related data across our entire organization also ensures that managers are making the most educated staffing decisions using actionable data and evidence. We want to ensure consistency with every patient experience at AltaPointe and API Healthcare’s technology will help us meet that goal.”

In the second quarter API Healthcare signed contracts with organizations that span the post-acute care continuum, such as Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Neb., ThedaCare, and Metro Health. Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital is one of the nation’s leading specialized rehabilitation facilities for children and adults recovering from traumatic injuries and other conditions.

“API Healthcare’s integrated workforce management technology will create significant value as we work towards growing and expanding our services to meet the needs of our employees” said Marsha Lommel, President and CEO of Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital. “The ability to share meaningful employee data across our complete organization will give employees immediate access to information electronically and streamline HR practices.”
