The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare (AAAHC) annually analyzes compliance data from surveys to identify the accreditation standards with which organizations struggle, as well as those with the highest compliance levels.
The 2014 findings reveal a relatively high frequency of partial compliance and/or noncompliance issues related to the physical environment of ambulatory surgery centers, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.
The deficiencies revealed in the report include:
• Failure to identify staff members responsible for compliance of the fire alarm system, automatic sprinkler system, alternate power source equipment and portable fire extinguishers
• Failure to notify the fire alarm monitoring company before and after each test or maintenance activity
