Adapting Worksites at Active Healthcare Facilities During Covid

There are additional factors to consider during the pandemic


When constructing or renovating healthcare facilities, it’s critical to routinely consider  infection and to consider ways to minimize the effect of the work on occupied spaces, according to an article on the Occupational Health and Safety website.

So, maintaining access to jobsites and coordinating shutdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic is is not new to construction crews at medical facilities. 

For instance, for facilities that are renovating or adding equipment while still serving patients, deliveries need to be timed so they will cause as little disruption as possible — likely early in the morning, late at night or on weekends, according to an article on the Dotmed website.

And to control infection, sites must remain dust- and contaminant-free. 

A variety of containment systems ranging from finished, hard partitions to fabric or plastic barrier systems can be used.
