After experiencing an active shooter situation just outside its facility, Eisenhower Health in Rancho Mirage, Calif., developed an emergency communication network, according to an article on the Becker's Hospital Review website.
Around 80 people were evacuated from the hospital's campus during the incident, and its orthopedic unit was locked down for more than an hour prior to the evacuation.
The hospital is implementing a communications platform that connects staff throughout the facility by adding all their communication tools to a single mobile-based application.
The system supports phone call, texting, paging, video chat, nurse alerts, photography and broadcast functions.
