Artwork in hospitals has been linked to better pain control and reduced anxiety


Art in healthcare facilities can help wayfinding and improve branding, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

Artwork can improve the patient’s perception of care and give visitors something with which to identify.

“Art and furniture ... can significantly reinforce a brand by creating an environment in keeping with the brand image," architect Mark Patterson said in his article "Designing for brand awareness." 

An art program can display the work of local artists to strengthen the healthcare organization’s connection with the community, he said.
