Nearly 90 percent of all healthcare organizations have suffered at least one data breach in the last two years, according to a Ponemon Institute report.

One contributing factor to this problem is the fact that many healthcare organizations are behind when it comes to creating effective security defenses, according to an article on the Health IT Security website. 

Healthcare facilities are hampered by tight budgets and increased consumer access to information.

Also, healthcare IT teams are often busy ensuring the ongoing performance of advanced healthcare equipment.
