Bronx-Lebanon Hospital adapts, reviews security after shooting

Security measures have been added and shooting sites are being renovated

Bronx-Lebanon Hospital is adding security measures and renovating affected areas after a shooting that killed one doctor and injured six other people, according to an article on the New York Times website.

In early summer, a disgruntled former doctor opened fire on the hospital’s top two floors before fatally shooting himself.

Employees from the top floors, which are being renovated, have been moved to the 11th floor.

Turnstiles soon will be installed at seven of the hospital’s entrances for extra security, and employees will have to pass through badge-verification lanes. Visitors will receive stickers that disappear after several hours, so security guards can track how long they have been in the hospital.
