The Centers for Medicare and MedicaidServices (CMS) ordered its state and regional surveyors to suspend “non-emergency" inspections across the country to allow inspectors to focus on infectious diseases and abuse, according to an article on the HCPro website.
The shift lets inspectors to focus on the spread of the coronavirus disease.
The order was released March 4 in a Quality, Safety & Oversight Group memo, and followed up with two others on guidance for the prevention of coronavirus in hospitals and nursing homes.
