California hospitals with high infection rates not inspected

California law requires hospitals to be inspected every three years


One hundred thirty-one California hospitals have not been inspected within the last five years, according to an article on the Los Angeles Times website.

State law requires hospitals to be inspected every three years, but the period has stretched to at least five years for 131 hospitals, according to a petition filed by Consumers Union.

Eighty of those hospitals have reported infection rates that are significantly higher than the norm.

Among those hospitals are Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.
