California wildfires force four Kaiser Permanente hospitals to operate on generators

An outbreak of wildfires in the state prompted Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) to shut down power in some areas

Four of Kaiser Permanente hospitals were forced to run on generators,  as sections of California’s power grid experienced rolling blackouts, according to an article on the Yahoo website.

An outbreak of wildfires in the state prompted Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) to shut down power in parts of California, which is affecting at least 500,000 consumers.

Since wildfires and the impact on the grid have become more commonplace, hospital generators are tested regularly, and could easily run for days.

Hospitals, with the massive amount of resources used and their large carbon footprints, have become part of the conversation on how to mitigate the environmental impact of certain industries, the article said.
