The new VA hospital in Aurora, Colo., notorious for delays and cost overruns will be exempt from a federal hiring freeze, according to an article on the Denver Post website.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs needs about 300 new employees to activate the campus, which is still under construction and won’t be fully operational until at least 2018.
Some of these new employees — such as doctors and nurses — likely would have been exempt anyway.
But there was concern the hospital’s support staff wouldn’t be included.
