Concerns raised over cleanliness at Derry hospital

Monthly environmental cleanliness audit revealed low or no scores

Concerns raised over cleanliness at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry, Ireland., hospital after monthly environmental cleanliness audit revealed low or no scores, according to an article on the Derry Now website.

Some wards achieved a score of 30 per cent in the audit, against a set target of 95 percent.

Hospital officials said some of the low scores could also be attributed to the ‘fabric of the building itself’. Chipped paint, or a chipped door, would result in a score remaining low.

Audit meetings also revealed that some staff within the Trust had failed to attend mandatory training sessions in infection control.
