Crown Castle Announces Multimillion Dollar Enhancement to its Los Angeles area Fiber Network

Crown Castle International Corp. (NYSE:CCI) (“Crown Castle”), an S&P 500 company with a 25-year history of owning and maintaining network infrastructure nationwide, is announcing a multimillion dollar investment over the next year to enhance and supplement its existing fiber in the Los Angeles (LA) metropolitan area, as well as surrounding areas in Southern California.

California is the 9th most connected state in the country,  and the LA region enhancements will further increase bandwidth capabilities. The enhancements have a target completion date of January 2019 and will allow Crown Castle to serve customers with a complete suite of fiber networking solutions including:

•    Dark Fiber
•    Ethernet
•    Wavelength
•    Private Networks
•    Internet Access
•    Colocation
•    Cloud Transport

“Crown Castle is committed to investing in our markets in order to provide our customers with expanded services and capabilities,” states Pat Dolan, Head of Enterprise Sales West, for Crown Castle. “As a company, we have been in the Southern California region for over 10 years, and we look forward to providing enhanced fiber optic services to the greater LA area that address the increasing need organizations have for reliable and scalable high-capacity bandwidth.”

Crown Castle recently completed the acquisition of Sunesys, Fibernet, Wilcon and Lightower, further strengthening its dedication to fiber infrastructure. The company works closely with its clients to build custom solutions with the privacy, security, reliability and bandwidth customers require. With its consultative approach and dedicated resources, the Crown Castle team takes the time to carefully consider customer needs and deliver a solution that meets business requirements. Unlike other companies that lease their fiber, Crown Castle owns its fiber network, making the company directly invested in the integrity of the infrastructure while allowing for faster response times as well as personalized technical and customer support.

“With new content types emerging, and with the acceleration of e-commerce and innovations in data delivery, the availability of fiber connectivity is crucial.  Crown Castle is proud to be at the forefront of infrastructure investment nationwide,” states Doug Turtz, Vice President Sales, for Crown Castle.

With an existing LA metro and Southern California market presence of 5,674 route miles of fiber and 1,921 on-net buildings, Crown Castle will continue to offer its own enterprise data center services at the following LA locations:

•    624 South Grand Avenue
    600 West 7th Street
•    530 West 6th Street

Crown Castle also offers fiber connectivity to over 18 critical data centers in the LA area, including:

•    624 South Grand Avenue
    600 West 7th Street
•    1920 East Maple Avenue
•    2260 East El Segundo Boulevard

These enhancements will provide customers access to the entire, nationwide Crown Castle network of over 60,000 route miles of fiber providing access to over 25,000 service locations and 900+ connected data centers. Over the last 25 years, Crown Castle has built and maintained fiber networks for over 8,000 customers across a broad array of industries including state, county and city governments, media and entertainment, professional services, educational, healthcare and financial institutions, as well as other large enterprises.
