Designing a medical school to serve a changing industry

Christine Cassel, formerly of the National Quality Forum, is helping Kaiser Permanente design a medical school for a changing industry, according to an interview on the Hospitals & Health Networks website.

One goal is to keep it small and have very personalized approaches to students, Cassel said.

"There is a lot of burnout and depression among medical students and residents, and so Kaiser is very committed to the principle that you can’t take good care of patients if you don’t take good care of yourself."

"There are some really exciting new ways of thinking of interactive learning and getting students much more engaged with what they’re working on."
