Distech Controls launches first and only smoke control system based on NiagaraAX Framework

Brossard, QC — Distech Controls is pleased to announce that the company’s UL 864 UUKL 9th Edition Smoke Control System is now available in the USA. This solution is the first and only in the market based on EC-NetAX™, powered by the NiagaraAX Framework.

The Distech Controls Smoke Control System complies with the Underwriters Laboratories Inc.® requirements for the UL 864 9th Edition UUKL Smoke Control Listing. The versatility of the system allows it to operate as a dedicated smoke control solution, or as part of a more complete building automation system, where components are used across energy and smoke evacuation disciplines, optimizing performance and savings.

This smoke control system is comprised of an EC-BOS-6AX UUKL, and select models of the ECB BACnet Series controllers. In addition, Distech Controls offers all other required field devices and network infrastructure products, such as firefighters’ smoke control stations, Ethernet switches, surge suppressors, etc.

Distech Controls has always prided itself in offering tools that increase the productivity of its Partners. As such, a comprehensive sample code library will be available to provide product application examples, which can be used as a time-saving guide when developing the smoke control sequences required for each unique project.

“The ever-growing adoption rate of the International Building Code has meant that smoke control solutions are becoming an increasingly important component of building projects,” said Etienne Veilleux, President and CEO of Distech Controls Inc. “With the introduction of our smoke control system, we are not only offering our Partners the necessary system to operate under these requirements, but we are also offering building owners the unique advantage of integrating their smoke control system with the market-leading building management system platform”.

“Distech Controls continues to lead the BMS industry with innovative solutions built around an open architecture that includes the Niagara building operating system,” said Nino DiCosmo, Tridium President and General Manager. “We are excited about the launch of the first Niagara-based UL-rated smoke control system, a milestone that clearly demonstrates Distech Controls’ ongoing commitment to providing the latest technology while adhering to their open system philosophy.”
