NHS Tayside closed a ward for elderly people at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Dundee, England, citing fire safety fears, according to an article on the Courier website.
But concerns have been raised by residents in the West End about the transfer of frail patients from the “bright and airy” Ward 2 to a “cramped” Ward 3.
The Deputy Chief Executive of NHS Tayside explained that Ward 2 was unfit for purpose due to a fire safety risk.
“This ward is located in the upper floor of a Victorian building and presents considerable environmental risks to both patients and staff alike."
