The Leapfrog Group released its first rankings of ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs).The ratings showed many organizations fail to follow quality practices, according to an article on the Florence Health website,
For the report, Leapfrog analysts looked over voluntary data from 321 ASCs and 1,141 HOPDs.
Findings included:
• Fewer than 1 in 5 ASCs have adopted an anti-microbial stewardship program
• Less than 1 percent of ASCs and 6 percent of HOPDs have implemented an electronic compliance monitoring system for hand hygiene
The survey this year didn't report on infection, but it will in the future, the article said.
