Floor care issues explained

Proper training an equipment can minimize potential problems

When something goes wrong with floor refinishing there usually is a fairly easy explanation — but that does not mean correcting the situation is necessarily easy, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

The article included an explanation of some of the more common glitches, including instances when the floor is shinier in some areas of the building compared with others.

While the floor's finish is what helps cause this light reflection (shine), the real purpose of this finish is to protect the floor. Uneven shininess could also be caused by a number of technical reasons, including:

• The same number of coats of finish was not applied to all sections of the floor

• The finish was not applied in thin coats

• The same floor finish was not used in all areas
