While Fishermen’s Community Hospital's temporary hospital may move to the Marathon airport, according to an article on the Florida Keys News website.
The facility was built about two weeks after Hurricane Irma caused severe roof damage Fishermen’s Community Hospital. Baptist Health South Florida recently bought Fishermen’s.
The original Fishermen’s building will need to be knocked down and rebuilt, according to hospital officials.
At the County Commission meeting earlier this month, County Emergency Management Director Martin Senterfitt said a few things would have to happen before the pop-up hospital is moved to the airport. The Federal Aviation Administration would have to approve it along with the state Legislature.
